Two New Articles By Your Humble(ish) Moonsthoughts Guy

Here are a pair of articles (unrelated to each other) that I’ve written recently: One link is to an article I wrote for NapeNaSi.com, the website/blog of a mission group I’m part of, and the other is an article for theodysseyonline about zombie movies, us, and social media. I hope you’ll take the time to read them, that you enjoy them, and that they at least make you think. Cheers, and, as always, thanks for reading!

  1. Hi Lloyd…very good article! My hubs and me drove up to the Pine Ridge Reservation recently and we were heartbroken at the sights. We stopped to eat at a Dairy Queen and there was an elderly Indian gentlemen asking the waitress for food. He said he was hungry and had no money. We wanted to feed him anonymously…however, we were the only other people in the establishment. So when the waitress brought him his food He came to our table. He said his name is Three Stars. He said he is Lakota and that he’s homeless because he refuses to live in government housing. As he told us of his life we were transfixed. We wanted to bless this precious man, but Three Stars put us to shame. At the end of our conversation he lifted up his hands and prayed a Lakota Blessing over us. I am certain I caught a glimpse of a Lakota Warrior regal in appearance, strong in spirit. I could almost hear the best of drums in the distance. As we drove home I felt sad but mostly angry. And sorry for the plight of these people. And shame for how they’ve been treated. About the hardships they endure and the relative luxury I’ve enjoyed my entire life.
Now almost every night I go out on our deck and look up into the dark, starry, Nebraska sky and pray for Three Stars and his people. Especially meaningful are the nights I spot 3 stars in a cluster. And I remember the day a homeless, hungry, Native American taught me a valuable lesson…many times the poorest among us have the most to give. If we allow ourselves to receive.
God bless you and your Church Family for your work on the reservation. And if perchance you should see 3 stars together in a dark, night sky….whisper a prayer for my friend Three Stars!
Grace and Peace to you and The Amazing Jess
